Making Children & Young People Matter

The main aim of Mothers Against Violence is to work with young people to ensure they are safe sound and secure in their local communities. We also work to provide then with the support they need to establish themselves as fully integrated young people with the ability to enrich others. We believe children and young people matter now more than ever.

MAV UK Youth Enrichment Programme

Funded by The Phoenix Way

  • The MAV UK Youth Enrichment Programme provides creative, physical and wellbeing activities for children and young people aged 5–18, focusing on engaging those from Black and racially minoritised backgrounds. The programme creates safe, inspiring spaces where young people can build confidence, develop skills and connect with positive mentors and role models.

  •

  • Current Activity Highlights
Since October 2025, young people have participated in mentoring, dance, music and cultural workshops delivered by experienced creative practitioners and youth mentors. Recent sessions have included:

  • One-to-one mentoring supporting emotional regulation, confidence and positive decision-making

  • Dance development sessions supporting GCSE students with performance assessment skills

  • Cultural cooking workshops introducing young people to new foods, traditions and teamwork skills

  • Round-table discussions encouraging youth voice, confidence and leadership

  • The programme has also supported young participants directly by funding access to structured activities such as dance training, helping remove financial barriers and ensure consistent participation.

  •

  • Upcoming Activities (from March 2026)
We’re expanding provision with new weekly sessions:

  • Girls’ Boxing & Confidence Sessions led by a qualified coach and counsellor, combining physical activity with confidence-building and emotional wellbeing support

  • Creative Art Sessions led by artist Amina, focusing on identity, culture and self-expression through painting, portrait work and mixed-media activities

  • These sessions will continue MAV UK’s commitment to providing culturally relevant, confidence-building opportunities for young people while also creating paid opportunities for diverse creative freelancers.

  •

  • More workshops, holiday programmes and community events will be announced throughout the year.
